Artworks Gallery features photographer Marie Plakos and glass artist Morgan Bell during the month of March, starting with a “First Friday” reception from 5 to 7:30 p.m. on March 4. Light snacks and beverages will be served and guitarist Quinn Fitzpatrick will be performing. Other Artworks Gallery artists will be on hand to greet visitors during the reception.
New to Artworks Gallery, we welcome Morgan Bell and her current exhibit, “Navigating Life’s Rough Edges.” Bell has been creating fused art glass for over 15 years. Her works include vessels, figurative sculptures, wall hangings, and jewelry. “My artwork is an expression of my life-long exploration into the concept that Beauty feeds Spirit.” Bell said. “I believe that beauty, whether observed, created or worn adds an extra spiritual dimension to our lives. Creating objects of beauty and sharing them with the world is what drives me to create.”
Plakos is an artist who uses her camera as a tool for capturing a glimpse of the world. She travels the world focusing on local cultures and environments. At home, photographing in her garden or in Africa, photographing women, she focuses on the colors, textures, and designs found everywhere.
“I see the wonder of color, symmetry, and the pure genius of nature,” Plakos said. Her current exhibit is featuring flowers. Plakos’ book, “Our Sister’s Keeper” is available at Artworks. It is a photographic project of women around the world, highlighting their beauty and strength that rises above the conditions and challenges they face in life.
