The book launch of “Whidbey Island:  Reflections on People and the Land” will be held from 6 to 8 p.m. on Thursday, July 10 at the Bayview Cash Store.

The book, published by History Press, is an anthology by local authors Elizabeth Guss, Janice O’Mahony and Mary Richardson about the history of Whidbey Island, focusing on land preservation and the community activists who preserved, repurposed or restored treasured natural areas. Using fifteen places to examine the complexities of land use over time, the authors present a complex picture of how people influence the land and land influences the people.

For more information, contact O’Mahony at 360-321-4680. You can also check out an interview in which the authors discuss what motivated them to write their book: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CVKaCI9_Lb8.
