Blues singer and former Whidbey Island resident CeeCee James hit number 13 on the Billboard blues charts recently with her latest CD release “Blood Red Blues.” James said she “was over the top with excitement” when she heard the news and saw her name listed not far below such luminaries as Bonnie Raitt, Wynton Marsalis, Eric Clapton and the Tedeschi Trucks Band.
James and her band are currently on tour throughout the Northwest Aug. 17-26 and will play a Whidbey Island show at 9 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 25 at Cozy’s Roadhouse in Clinton. Advance ticket sales are highly recommended and can be bought at Cozy’s for $15 or online at www.ceeceejames.com for $16.
James will also be at the South Whidbey Commons in Langley at 7 p.m. Thursday, Aug. 23 for scaled down and intimate show with Rob “Slideboy” Andrews on slide guitar and local musician David Malony on percussion. Call for information at 360-221-0127.
