Spring is the season for auditions…lots and lots of auditions. It feels like every theatre in the greater Seattle area is holding their general auditions this time of year and I should know—I’ve been to most of them.
They got some nerve! Get in line WLM, right behind more worthy causes like “Beet Greens for Llamas” and “Save the Termite Foundation.”
The best thing an actor can do when they are not working, is prepare to work.
This got me thinking about the arts in my community, about theatre arts in particular.
At the upcoming Whidbey Institute gathering, global participants will come together to meet, share stories and best practices. Needless to say, the organizers are excited.
I am currently in a play at Seattle Center House, upstairs in the Armory. It’s the play “Cloud 9” by Caryl Churchill.
It was the first time I had coached a person on solo performance and the stakes seemed so high.

I’ve been an actor for nearly 25 years and I love it. As far as I’m concerned, there’s nothing better than witnessing live theater the lights dim, the actors enter the stage, the audience stirs and off we go.
