A Thursday night performance was added for “The Full Monty” the musical at Whidbey Island Center for the Arts in Langley due to the show’s popularity. Tickets are available for shows at 7.30 p.m. Thursday, April 18, Friday, April 19 and Saturday, April 20.
“The Full Monty” is directed by Elizabeth Herbert, with musical direction by Sheila Weidendorf and choreography by Chelsea Randall. The show opens April 5 and runs through April 20.
The original British film in 1997 followed six out-of-work steelworkers who had nothing to lose and took the world by storm, becoming one of the most successful British films ever made. Now the boys are back, live on stage — only this time, for them, it really has to be “The Full Monty.”
The musical, with a book by American playwright Terrence McNally and music and lyrics by David Yazbek, is adapted from the film and moves the guys to Buffalo, New York. The original Broadway production of “The Full Monty” was nominated for 10 Tony Awards in 2001, including Best Musical, Best Book of a Musical, and Best Original Score.
Leading the company of Herbert’s production are Ken Stephens, Ryan Saenz, Bob Atkinson, Tristan A.B. Steel, Fernando Duran and Cameron Gray. A full cast list can be found on the website.
