Rob Schouten Gallery presents ‘Into the Garden’ – prints by Rob Schouten Friday, Feb. 5 until Monday, Feb. 29. He will be holding an artist’s reception 5 to 7 p.m. on Friday, Feb. 5. during “First Friday at the Farm”. Light refreshments will be served.
Rob Schouten Gallery kicks off its 2016 season with an exhibition of magic realist images by its namesake. Into the Garden is a rare opportunity to see a complete selection of Schouten’s prints both of earlier watercolors and more recent oil paintings. And as an added plus we are offering a 10% discount on all prints through the month of February, making this the perfect time to take home your favorite images. In addition to the featured exhibit, we will also be showing a broad selection of art by our 30 gallery artists.
“My paintings are carefully crafted to instill a sense of wonder and mystery, and designed to reveal the aesthetic beauty and radiance of ordinary things,” Schouten said.
“Nature is my deepest source of inspiration, as are quantum physics and the stars of the night sky. Symbolism is the language I use to communicate,” Schouten said.
With over thirty years experience and his well-honed skills for detail and design, Rob is able to take the viewer to places imagined as only a magic-realist could. His journey as an artist has been inspired by Escher, Dali, Magritte, and the 19th century Symbolist artists, but even more so by the works of Carl G. Jung, Joseph Campbell and his own studies of Eastern traditions.
Rob Schouten Gallery, a premier showcase for Whidbey Island and Northwest artists, is located at 765 Wonn Rd., #C-103 at the historic Greenbank Farm.
