The Island Shakespeare Festival will be the host and beneficiary of this year’s All Island Book Clubs Gathering set for Tuesday, August 12, from 5:30 to 8:30 p.m. under Henry, the tent, behind Langley Middle School. All book club leaders should contact Donna Hood at donnahood@whidbey.com or 360-341-1860 by July 15 to be sure their club is on the formal notifications list and/or to reserve a table.

Those wishing to eat at the event are invited to bring a picnic for their group. Drinks will be available. Entertainment will be provided by cast members from the Shakespeare Festival’s current productions, “Taming of the Shrew” and “Richard the III.” There is no charge to attend the Book Event although the Festival hat may be passed.

Each Book Club will be asked to select and share its top read from the past twelve months. Best read choices are due by Friday, August 1. A printed list of top reads will be provided to all who attend. There will be a used book sale with proceeds to benefit the Festival. Tables for book lovers seeking book clubs will also be available.
