The City of Langley & Langley ARTS Commission presents “A Day of Focus on Developing Public Art as a Strategy for Furthering Langley’s Economic Growth” featuring speakers from the Arts WA organization.
This “Mayor’s Workshop” will be held from 10:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. on Tuesday, June 30 at the Langley Methodist Church on 3rd and Anthes in Langley.
Ms. Glenda Carino, the Communication Manager of Arts WA, will speak from 10:30 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. Ms. Carino is the president of Valley Arts United where she leads an all-volunteer, non-profit organization for the greater Puyallup community. She will lead a discussion on developing a community sponsored public art program, the impact of creative jobs in the economy and how to work with community leaders.
A hosted ARTS Networking luncheon will occur from 12 noon to 1 p.m.
Karen Hanan, the Arts WA Executive Director, will speak from 1 to 2:30 and give a brief overview on the various ways ArtsWA nurtures the arts in Washington communities, a snapshot of Langley and Island County’s creative economy and an update on ArtsWA grants and programs—including the upcoming Art in Public Places Public Art Roster Competition, Arts in Education news and the search for the next Poet Laureate.
