The Northwest Institute of Literary Arts kicks off the weekend with featuring readings from poets and writers at 6:00 p.m. Friday, June 26 at Blooms Winery and Tasting Room.
Readings by Jim Gearhart (whose essays have appeared in Shark Reef Literary Magazine & High Country News); Mary Heron Hake (who has been nominated for inclusion in Best New Poets 2015); Mel Flannery (a poet form Seattle with Masters in both Nursing & Creative Writing); Carolyne Wright (Carolyne has published nine books of poetry, including several that were nominated for various literary awards & one that won the Blue Lynx Prize & the American Book Award, and also a collection of essays and co-edited an anthology on women & work); Stephanie Hammer (who has been nominated for a Pushcart prize 4 times in poetry, fiction & nonfiction and has her first novel The Puppet Turner of Narrow Interior), and Marie Hartung (Marie’s work has appeared most recently in Talking River Journal. She was named a finalist for the Writers at Work Fellowship in 2014, the Eric Hoffer Award for Prose in 2015, & was a recipient of a fellowship scholarship award for the Summer Literary Series in Kenya).
These poets and writers will do readings, and will have time for discussions and book signings. Come by and enjoy a glass of wine with them & hear their prose at Blooms Winery Tasting Room at 5603 Bayview Rd., Langley, in the historic Bayview Cash Store.
