Local Dancers Greet Commuters in Clinton to Promote One Billion Rising

Early commuters Valentine’s Day were greeted at the ferry by four dancers performing to promote onebillionrising.org, to end violence against women worldwide. Maureen “Momo” Freehill leads dancers, Sommer Joy Albertsen, Heidi Sebastion, and Jeanette Eveland, as part of the 2014 international One Billion Rising event. WLM staff photographer David Welton was there to catch the action.

Last year on Feb. 14, 2013, one billion people in 207 countries rose and danced to demand an end to violence against women and girls as part of this movement. Photos and experiences from this year’s international flash mob can be found the  onebillionrising.org website.
