Scenes of life on Whidbey, captured by local photographers Tom Hanify and Martha McCartney, will be featured at Blooms Winery tasting room at the historic Bayview Corner Cash Store during the months of July and August. An Artists Opening Reception will be held from 5 t0 7 p.m. on Thursday July 9. Come browse the art and meet the artists while you sample some lovely wines.
Tom Hanify feels blessed to have been a long-time resident of Whidbey Island. His journey from a picture taker to photographer and artist has been one of the most exciting periods of his life. Photography has made Tom more aware of his environment, he said, giving him a reason to travel, to meet interesting people and to share his view of the world with others. He thoroughly enjoys the process, from capturing the initial image, through editing and arriving at the final print.
Martha McCartney is a poet, a photographer, candle maker, mixed media artist and a persistent gardener. She currently makes her home under the blue hole in the sky over Whidbey Island which is Coupeville. The Pacific Northwest has captured her heart and her imagination.
