Come see the Seattle Men’s Chorus with a show to celebrate “Everything Broadway” at 7 p.m. on Saturday, April 23 at the South Whidbey High School – Performing Arts Center. Proceeds from the concert to support the non-profit CADA, Citizens Against Domestic & Sexual Abuse.
It’s the definitive guide to show tunes! Let SMC be your colorful guide down the Great White Way for a show-stopping concert packed with songs from Broadway’s biggest hits and hidden gems. From classics of the Golden Age to today’s Tony award-winners, experience the dazzle, flair, and savoir faire that comes naturally to the boys of the Chorus. This show-stopper is packed with songs from Broadway’s biggest hits and hidden gems, including Kinky Boots, The Book of Mormon, Cabaret, and Guys & Dolls.
The pre-concert VIP Reception will be hosted at a beautiful private residence in Langley. The reception’s key sponsor is Windermere Realty Freeland with appetizers prepared by Front Street Grill, delicious wine poured by Spoiled Dog Winery, and a Cadée Distillery specialty cocktail. During the reception, guests will be treated to a rousing Benefit Performance by “Captain Smartypants”, the Seattle Men’s Chorus’ musical comedy group. They are nine funny, outrageous, and talented guys who are the best of the best. This ensemble has performed with Ann Wilson, Jennifer Holliday, Kristen Chenoweth, Melissa Manchester, and other notable entertainers. You will not be disappointed. Purchase of the reception ticket includes entry to the benefit concert and preferential seating.
SPECIAL NOTE: Dennis Coleman is the artistic director of Seattle Men’s Chorus (and Seattle Women’s Chorus). He is retiring in June after a 35-year tenure, longer than any other artistic director from any Seattle-area arts organization of this size, or larger. Dennis joined the fledgling Chorus as conductor in 1981 and has been integral to growing the organization into becoming the largest community chorus in North America. This evening will be one of the final performances under Dennis’ direction.
