July 1, 2013

It’s that time of the summer when Langley gives itself over to arts, crafts, music, food, beer and fun for the kids at the festival that began almost 40 years ago by Whidbey Island artists.

At the 38th annual Choochokam Arts festival in downtown Langley, the weekend of Saturday, July 6 and Sunday, July 7 will see two days filled with an eclectic mix of local and regional entertainment, food vendors, a beer garden, fun for children and the largest gathering of artists selling their work in downtown Langley.

Cary Jurriaans and other fine artists of the Whidbey Island Fine Arts Studio and Langley Arts Connect will be demonstrating the art of portraiture and other painting techniques in the U.S. Bank parking lot throughout the weekend.

And don’t forget about the Langley Running Festival; the race begins at 8:30 a.m. Sunday, July 7 from the festival site. Here’s the info for registration.

The festival boasts three stages including the main stage at Anthes and First Street, an acoustic stage at the Useless Bay Pavilion and Kid’s Zone Outdoor stage at Whidbey Children’s Theater on 3rd and Anthes. The festival will see, with more than 30 acts performing through the weekend.

Don’t forget to mark the Saturday Night Street Dance on your calendar! Beginning at 6:30 p.m. July 7, it’s a favorite event of the season for locals and visitors alike.
