Langley photographer Matthew Wilson recently opened his home gallery with a show titled “Up Close & Perennial,” a collection of framed flower prints and cards.
Walk into the show and be dazzled by the vibrant colors found in the nature, which Wilson explores by taking extreme close-ups of the most colorful flowers he finds close to home.
“My aim with the photographs is to show the detail we can easily miss in nature and the amazing variety and range of color,” the artist said of the series.
Wilson said he has been taking macro photos for about a decade and, inspired by his wife Suzanne Kelman, an actress and screenwriter, and the arts rich community they live in, decided it was time to show his pictures.
Wilson opens his gallery to the public to see “Up Close & Perennial” for one more weekend from noon to 4 p.m. Aug. 24-26. Prints and cards are available for sale. The gallery is at 5028 Bayview Road in Langley.
