The Whidbey Life Magazine’s Artists’ Virtual Gallery is pleased to present its first curated exhibit:
THE CLASSICAL EYE is a dynamic presentation of the primarily analog work of two diverse artists: Skip Smith of Langley and Lorraine Healy of Freeland. Almost all of these pieces were created using traditional film, and were often complemented with non-traditional equipment and processes.
Mr. Smith frequently uses plastic Holga cameras, but his unique vision is expressed by his own Lith developing and printing processes. Ms. Healy uses a variety of cameras, including Holga and other toy cameras, as well as an occasional digital, but after traditionally developing her film, she frequently employs digital techniques, such as layering and blending, to accomplish her vision.
Both artists shoot subjects of a classical nature, and present those images with their own unique spin.
