Transgender Day of Remembrance memorial ceremony to be held on Nov. 20

A Transgender Day of Remembrance memorial ceremony will be held at Unity of Whidbey, 5671 Crawford Road in Langley, at 7 p.m.on Friday, Nov. 20.

The annual Transgender Day of Remembrance honors the memory of people murdered in acts of anti-transgender violence. It is observed on Nov. 20 in recognition of the 1998 unsolved murder of Rita Hester in Boston, Mass.The memorial ceremony is open to anyone who would like to hold space for those lost to anti-transgender violence. Participants are invited to bring a small item for a memorial altar. Carpool options available.

Whidbey Island Network of Transgender Education and Resources (WINTER) serves transgender, gender nonconforming and gender questioning youth and adults on Whidbey Island.
