David Welton attended the Whidbey Writers Conference this past weekend and captured the vitality of the sessions in photos.
“Boys in the Boat” best-selling book author Daniel James Brown describes the thrill of being “friended” by Laura Hillenbrand (author of “Unbroken”), after she read his book.
Creativity coach and WLM writer Deb Lund in the classroom.
Petra Martin at the microphone explaining a graph from 1975.
The newly published author of “The Rejected Writers Book Club” Suzanne Kelman, is caught rushing from one class to the other just like in high school.
David Ossman and Judith Walcutt presented their session together and were fun to watch, even for this nonwriter. They emphasized “speaking in your own voice” when reading poetry and gave microphone lessons to the students.
David demonstrates the power of direct eye contact with the photographer.
Judith coaches local writer Carolyn Tamler on how to use a microphone for public readings, one of the many skills a writer needs AFTER writing the book.
